Pounovich Pushes Loyola Past UIC, 3-2, In Season Finale11/14/2009 Sophomore Natalie Pounovich controlled the net on both ends, drilling a career-high 19 kills and adding eight blocks as Loyola wrapped up its 2009 season with an entertaining 3-2 (25-20, 13-25, 30-28, 19-25, 15-11) win over UIC this afternoon at the Flames Athletic Center. The Ramblers (12-17, 5-11 Horizon) finish the season in a three-way tie for sixth place with Green Bay and Youngstown State but were eliminated from Horizon League Tournament contention via tiebreak rules. Loyola Suffers Three-Set Loss At Valparaiso11/7/2009 Loyola dropped the opening set in extra points and Valparaiso took over from there as the Crusaders topped the Ramblers 3-0 (32-30, 25-14, 25-19) this afternoon at the ARC in Valparaiso, Ind. Loyola drops to 11-17 (4-11 Horizon) while Valpo improves to 20-8 (11-3) with the win. More
Loyola Rally Falls Just Short, Succumbs To Butler, 3-211/6/2009 Colleen Francis had a match-high 20 kills to help Loyola erase a two-set deficit but Butler was able to win the key points late in the fifth set as the Ramblers suffered a 3-2 loss (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 15-11) to the Bulldogs tonight at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Loyola misses a chance to make a move in the Horizon League standings, dropping to 11-16 (4-10 Horizon) while Butler continues its push for a bye in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament, improving to 20-11 (9-4). Two Loyola Women's Volleyball Players Earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Honors11/6/2009 Seniors Lauren Ditscheit and Alyse Serritella were both named ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-District V this afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The pair are the first Loyola volleyball players to be honored since Ann Deelo and Jennifer White in 2006. More
