Nora Schober Named Female Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

CHICAGO - Nora Schober, an outfielder on the Loyola University Chicago softball team, was named U.S. Army Horizon League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week it was announced this afternoon. Schober becomes the second member of the Loyola softball squad to earn the honor this spring. Last weekend, Schober batted .333 (2 for 6) with three stolen bases, a run and a RBI as the Ramblers split a doubleheader at Butler. She went 1 for 3 with a RBI double in a 5-4 loss in game one on March 21, then followed that up with three steals and a single in the nightcap, a 1-0 victory in 11 innings. A graduate student in Loyola school's of business administration, Schober is a member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, the Loyola and Horizon League Student-Athlete Advisory Committees and helped the Ramblers to a 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Team Academic Award. To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the week's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty athletic representatives. Loyola is scheduled to play its home opener March 26 versus Bradley at 5 p.m. |
