Krause Takes Home U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week Honors

Feb. 12, 2008

CHICAGO - Kat Krause added to her collection of awards for the week by capturing U.S. Army Horizon League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors today. Last season, Krause was bestowed with the award on a pair of occasions.

A member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, Krause helped the Ramblers earn a 2006-07 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award, and was chosen ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V a year ago.

Last week, Krause helped Loyola to a 2-3 record at the Sportco Spring Kick-off Classic in Las Vegas. The senior utility player batted .417 (5 for 12) with a double, two home runs, four RBI and four stolen bases as the Ramblers picked up victories over UNLV and Texas Tech. She went 2 for 4 with four runs, two home runs, three RBI and a stolen base in a 12-11 win over host UNLV on Feb. 8.

To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the week's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty athletic representatives.
