Loyola Women’s Golf Signs Kaitlin Kearney

Loyola Women’s Golf Signs Kaitlin Kearney

11/16/2004

Loyola head coach Nate Miklos signed Pennsylvania Kaitlin Kearney during the early signing period

Chicago (November 16, 2004) – Kaitlin Kearney (Glenmoore, Pa./Downington) has signed a national letter of intent to attend Loyola University Chicago and compete on the women’s golf team, head coach Nate Miklos announced today. Kearney is the first recruit to sign for the 2005-06 season.

“I think Kaitlin will be a great addition to our program,” Miklos said. “I was very impressed with her play in several national tournaments throughout the summer. She played against some of the best players in the country on some difficult courses and played quite well. Kaitlin has the ability to be an impact player for us next year and really be a great player throughout her career.”

Over the summer, Kearney shot a 73 and qualified for the Optimist Junior National where she finished in a tie for 32nd with rounds of 82-85-78-83. She also competed at the Pennsylvania State High School Championships and tied for 10th place with a 36-hole score of 170 at the Springwood Golf Club in York, Pa.

Loyola captured its first-ever Horizon League Women’s Golf Championship last season and heading into the spring is poised to make a run at the title again with returning all-league performers Nicole Puch and Marissa Capriola leading the way.
