Sister Act Helps Women’s Golf Place Fifth at Huskie Classic

Huntley, Ill. (October 4, 2004) – Led by the sister combination of senior Nicole Puch and her freshman sibling Michelle Puch, Loyola University Chicago placed fifth at the Huskie Classic which concluded today at Whisper Creek Golf Course. The Ramblers fired a 696 while host Northern Illinois claimed the title with a 646.
In the opening round of play yesterday, Nicole Puch carded a 78, the best score by any player in the field for the first day. Despite cool temperatures, the senior stayed hot, notching an 81 in the closing round today to finish third overall with a 159. Her younger sister, Michelle, placed tied for ninth with a 166 (84-82), shooting a season-best 82 today.
Katelyn Gibbons finished tied for 35th with a 189 (90-99) while Melissa Allen placed 38th with a 192 (98-94). Sarah Van Vooren, who was not in the Loyola lineup, captured 15th place with a 171 (88-83).
Loyola concludes its fall campaign, Oct. 18-19 at the Great Smokies Invitational in Waynesville, N.C.
