Rachael Sinnen fired an opening-round 84 at the Westerwinds Challenge Monday
 
 
Loyola Sits in Third Place After One Round at Westerwinds Challenge

MACOMB, Ill. - Led by the play of junior Rachael Sinnen, Loyola University Chicago's women's golf team wrapped up day one of competition at the Westerwinds Challenge in third place with a team score of 342, two strokes ahead of Eastern Illinois (344) and nine shots up on Saint Louis (351). Northern Illinois posted a team tally of 321 to set the pace, followed by host Western Illinois with a 326.

Sinnen shot an 84 today to tie for 10th place overall and was closely followed by Kaitlin Kearney and Sarah VanVooren who each carded an 85. Marissa Capriola notched an 88 and Katie Witte posted a 94 to round out the Ramblers' lineup. Michelle Puch, who is not part of the Loyola lineup for the tournament, carded an 84 in her first appearance of the season while Melissa Allen fired a 91.

The tournament concludes with a final 18-hole round tomorrow.
