Loyola Women’s Golf Takes Eighth Place at Illinois State Redbird Classic

Nicole Puch carded a 237 to place tied for 15th at the Illinois State Redbird Classic

Normal, Ill. (September 13, 2004) – Senior Nicole Puch recorded a team-best 237 (79-80-78) as Loyola University Chicago placed eighth in the competitive, nine-team Illinois State Redbird Classic field at the Illinois State Golf Course. The Ramblers turned in a 987 for the tournament, well ahead of Western Illinois (1,002).

Behind rounds of 79 from both Puch and Marissa Capriola, the Ramblers notched a team score of 326 in the opening round of play yesterday. Puch was consistent throughout the tournament and wrapped up competition today with a 78 to finish tied for 15th overall. Capriola (79-84-84 = 247) placed tied for 31st, followed by Michelle Puch (83-85-85 = 253) in 40th place and Sarah VanVooren (90-85-80 = 255) in 41st place. Melissa Allen (85-95-90 = 270) and Danielle Schuessler (95-95-90 = 280) also finished among the top 51 golfers.

Loyola returns to action next week when it participates in the Western Illinois Invitational, Sept. 20-21.
