Katie Witte Signs with Loyola Women’s Golf

4/20/2005

Women's golf coach Nate Miklos announced the signing of Katie Witte

CHICAGO (April 20, 2005) – Katie Witte (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/George Washington), a solid all-around athlete, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Loyola University Chicago and compete on the women’s golf team, head coach Nate Miklos announced today. Witte joins Kaitlin Kearney, who signed in the fall, to complete the Ramblers’ recruiting class for next season.

“We’re very excited to have join our program next year,” Miklos said. “She will be a great addition to our program. Katie has excelled both academically and athletically and she has the ability to step in right away and make a significant contribution.”

A member of the George Washington varsity golf team for four years, Witte earned conference player of the year accolades as a junior and placed 15th individually at the state tournament, helping her team to a runner-up showing. She captured the City Amateur Championship in 2003 and was runner-up in 2004. Witte also earned first team all-conference and all-metro honors as a junior.

Also a member of the basketball team at George Washington, Witte was a two-time basketball team captain, helping her squad to a runner-up finish in the state tournament this season.

Witte also excelled in the classroom, appearing on the honor roll for four years, while being a member of the National Honor Society.

Loyola looks to defend its 2004 Horizon League title at the League Championships, May 2-3.
