Women’s Golf Sets School Record at Springlake Intercollegiate

SEBRING, FLA. (March 12, 2005) – Loyola University Chicago’s women’s golf team opened up the spring season in fine fashion, setting a 36-hole school-record with a 642, en route to a 12th-place showing at the Springlake Intercollegiate. High Point captured the title with a team total of 616. In addition, Loyola tied the school-record for an 18-hole score by posting a 320 in the first day of competition on Friday.
Senior Nicole Puch led Loyola by shooting a 155 (76-79) overall, to finish tied for 11th out of 110 players in the tournament. She received solid backing from junior Marissa Capriola (81-77), who tied for 26th overall. Michelle Puch (79-89) and Sarah Van Vooren(84-84) tied for 71st, while Katelyn Gibbons (91-82) placed tied for 86th.
Loyola concludes its spring trip when it participates in the North/South Intercollegiate, March 14-15.
