Kris Berzins was named MIVA Player of the Week after recording a career-high 18 kills over the weekend
 
 
Kris Berzins Earns MIVA Player of the Week Honors

No. 14 Loyola University Chicago sophomore outside hitter Kris Berzins was named Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Player of the Week it was announced today. Berzins earned his first-ever MIVA Player of the Week honor after helping the Ramblers to a 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-26) win over Ball State on Saturday.

The Brinklow, Md., native had a career-high 18 kills, 10 digs and a block assist in the sweep of Ball State. Berzins hit .342 while averaging 6.17 points, 6.00 kills, 3.33 digs, and .33 blocks per game against the Cardinals. He sits atop the MIVA in kills per game (6.00), while his 6.17 points per game are good for second on the conference charts.

Berzins and the rest of the Ramblers hit the road on Friday, January 18 as they battle MIVA foe Quincy at the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill., at 7 p.m. before heading home to take on Lees-McRae in a non-conference match-up at Alumni Gym on Saturday. Saturday's match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
