Box Score

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Ian Anderson poured in a career-high 33 kills, but it was not enough as the 12th-ranked Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of Hawai'i on Friday night. The Ramblers lost 25-30, 21-30, 30-26, 26-30 and slip to 10-8 on the year, while the Warriors improve to 8-9 on the season.

The Warriors started off strong as they out-hit the visiting Ramblers .517 to .273 in game one. Hawai'i took the lead on a kill by Jim Clar to put the hosts up 13-12. UH would extend that lead to 25-20 on a Nemanja Komar kill and hang on to win 30-25.

Game two was all Hawai'i as the Warriors claimed a 10-5 lead on a Clar service ace. The Ramblers fought back, but were unable to close the margin. The Warriors coasted to a 30-21 victory giving them a 2-0 cushion going into intermission.

Loyola refused to quit as the Ramblers stormed back in game three taking a commanding 6-0 lead on six consecutive Joe Guntli serves that included a pair of aces. The Ramblers held the lead for the rest of game three as they pulled out a 30-26 victory.

The fourth game was a battle throughout, as the two teams were tied 10 times and exchanged leads four times. With the score knotted at 26 apiece, the Warriors scored four consecutive points to win the game 30-26.

Anderson notched 33 kills, six digs and a pair of aces and George Kamberos recorded 11 kills and a career-best 14 digs for the Ramblers. Mike Hutz contributed 50 assists and 11 digs on the evening.

Clar registered 20 kills and five digs to lead the Warriors.
