Markian Zyga Named to NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region Second Team

Loyola University Chicago's Markian Zyga was named to the 2007 NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America)/adidas Scholar All-North/Central Region Second Team it was announced by the League office over the weekend. Zyga helped the Ramblers capture their first-ever outright Horizon League regular-season title. Zyga appeared in 15 games for the Ramblers leading the team both academically and athletically. He recorded his first goal of the season on September 23 at San Diego, lifting the Ramblers over the Toreros by a score of 1-0. Zyga converted a first-half penalty kick to help Loyola win the adidas Classic which featured top competition such as then-No. 24UC Irvine, then-No. 9 Brown and host San Diego. The senior from Hinckley, Ohio owns a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in finance, he is the first Rambler in men's soccer history to earn Academic All-America honors. He has also received U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week (9/25) accolades and was named to the ESPN The Magazine First Team All-District V Team in 2006 and 2007.
