Iradj Farahmand II Drafted by Detroit Ignition

Feb. 13, 2008

CHICAGO - Former Loyola University Chicago standout, Iradj Farahmand II was drafted in the second round of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) draft on Tuesday by the Detroit Ignition. As a student-athlete at Loyola, Farahmand excelled on the field as he helped the Ramblers capture their first-ever outright Horizon League title last fall and he was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year.

While donning the Maroon and Gold, Farahmand II earned First Team All-Horizon League honors in 2006 and 2007 as he captained a Rambler defense that equaled a school-record tying ten shutouts for two consecutive seasons. In 2006, Farahmand II helped Loyola earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Horizon League Championship for the first time in school history. The Northbrook, Ill., native was also named the Horizon League Championship MVP in 2006.

Prior to his being drafted by Detroit, Farahmand II spent time working out and training with the Chicago Fire.
