Tim McBride

Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach

Alma Mater:
Loyola (1993)

Tim McBride begins his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Ramblers, who made just their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance last season and posted wins over nationally ranked programs such as Santa Clara and UIC, in addition to claiming their second Horizon League Tournament title. He has groomed 19 players to First or Second Team All-Horizon League status, including Eric Gehrig and Keum Sung Kim in 2008 and also helped freshmen Scott Waggoner and Erik Warren earn a spot on the League All-Newcomer Team last fall.

McBride's work helped forward Michael Ferguson emerge as one of the top players not only in the region, but also the country. Ferguson notched 32 points and 15 goals in 2007 en route to Horizon League Player of the Year and NSCAA Third Team All-America honors and was named to the 2008 Hermann Award Watch List. Iradj Farahmand II, who was an All-Great Lakes Region selection, was hailed as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and was drafted by the Detroit Ignition in the second round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft after helping the Ramblers post 10 shutouts for the year.

Off the field in 2007, Markian Zyga became the first Rambler in men's soccer history to earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America recognition as he was selected to the Second Team. In addition, for the second straight year, Loyola earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award for its pursuit of excellence in the classroom as the Ramblers were one of 111 men's soccer teams to post a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

In 2006, McBride aided in one of Loyola's most successful season in the history of the men's soccer program as the team captured the Horizon League Championship and earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. McBride's tutelage was a factor in Keum Sung Kim and Farahmand earning NSCAA/adidas Second Team All-Great Lakes Region accolades as they became the first Ramblers to earn such an honor since 1993. Loyola tied a then-school record with 10 shutouts in 2006 and with an 11-8-2 overall record, notched the fourth-most wins in the history of the program. Off the field, the team achieved recognition as Zyga was voted ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V.

In 2005, McBride helped Kim become the first player in Loyola annals to be named Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, and the Ramblers posted a four-game improvement in the win column from the previous campaign.

McBride returned to Rogers Park after nine successful years in the western portion of the country. After his college graduation, McBride was the director of game operations for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association for two years. After a one-year stint as the director of marketing for Colorado Ski Country USA, McBride moved to Phoenix in 1996 where he was a member of the core marketing staff that introduced the Phoenix Coyotes and the NHL to Arizona. He worked with the Coyotes for five years before moving to Loyola, where he served as the director of marketing and promotions, in addition to his coaching duties, in 2003-04.

McBride graduated from Loyola in 1993 with a degree in business administration and earned his M.B.A. from Loyola in 2007. On the field, McBride was a two-year letterwinner for the Ramblers after transferring from Rockhurst College, concluding his LU career with 12 goals and 30 points. He holds a United States Soccer Federation National "B" License.

He resides in Chicago with his wife, Jamee.
