Rain Shortens Great Smokies Invitational as Ramblers Place 22nd

10/19/2004

Nicole Puch fired an 81 at the Great Smokies Invitational

Waynesville, N.C. (October 19, 2004) – Heavy rain soaked the Waynesville Country Club course, shortening the Wachovia Great Smokies Intercollegiate today. Loyola University Chicago placed 22nd with a team score of 330, behind champion and host Western Carolina (291) as only one round of play was completed.

Senior Nicole Puch carded an opening-round tally of 81 on the wet course to lead the Loyola lineup. She was closely followed by Michelle Puch (82), Marissa Capriola (83), Sarah VanVooren (84) and Katelyn Gibbons (85). With their scores, Michelle Puch and Gibbons established individual bests for the fall season.

Loyola has concluded its fall campaign and will return to action in March.
