Loyola Men Look To Repeat As IPFW Classic Champs
Oct. 16, 2006 AUBURN, Ind. - A year ago, Loyola University Chicago's men's golf team captured its first-ever Division I tournament title by winning the IPFW Fall Classic. This year, the Ramblers are right in the thick of things after two rounds at Deer Track Golf Course, as they are tied with Oakland, 10 strokes behind leader Detroit, with a score of 570. Freshman Thomas Greene carded a four-under 67, his lowest of the season, in round one before shooting a two-over 73 in round two, to finish with a 140 today, good for a fourth-place tie. Armando Favela shot a two-under 69 in round one and notched a 141 today, tying him for sixth place, while Frank Linquist tallied a 144 (73-71) to tie for 15th. Peter Tomkie (76-71=147) and Sean Bidzinski (74-76=150) rounded out Loyola's lineup on the 6,596-yard course. The Ramblers wrap up play at the IPFW Fall Classic, and also close the lid on their fall season, with the final 18 holes of play Tuesday. Team Results Thru Two Rounds |
