Loyola Men’s Golf Finishes 12th at John Dallio Memorial

West Chicago, Ill. (September 28, 2004) – Records fell as the Loyola University Chicago men’s golf team placed 12th at the John Dallio Memorial Invitational at Prairie Landing Golf Club, which concluded today. The Ramblers fired a team score of 933 to edge Horizon League foe Wright State (944).
Freshman Aaron Harter and senior Dan Mattingly each set a Loyola single-round record by carding a four-under-par 68 in the opening round of competition yesterday. Overall, Mattingly was solid at the two-day tournament, tying for 10th place overall with a 221 (68-72-81) as he shot an even-par 72 in round two.
Harter led Loyola’s lineup by notching a 229 (68-82-79) to tie for 34th while Keith Nelson (76-75-79 = 230) and Frank Linquist (73-73-87 = 233) placed in the top 50 at 37th and 47th respectively. Matt Krummel (74-78-91 = 243) and Mike Wieland (77-80-93 = 250) rounded out the Ramblers lineup in 71st and 72nd place.
Loyola’s first-round team score of 291 tied for the second-best 18-hole round in school history.
The Ramblers conclude fall competition at the Ironhorse Intercollegiate, Oct. 11-12.
