Sept. 25, 2006 CHICAGO - Led by the continued solid play of sophomore Armando Favela, Loyola University Chicago wrapped up day one of play in ninth place at the John Dallio Memorial at Prairie Landing Golf Club in suburban West Chicago. The Ramblers racked up a score of 604 through 36 holes of action today, while Northern Illinois holds a two-stroke lead over host DePaul, 582-584. Favela, who has shown no sign of a sophomore jinx, shot an even-par 72 in round one, before carding a two-over 74 in the second round this afternoon, finishing the day with a 146, just five shots back from the pace. Senior Frank Linquist fired an even-par 72, after an opening-round 75, to tie for 16th place with a 147. Freshman Thomas Greene also shot an even-par round on the second 18 holes of play today, to finish the day with a 151 (79-72) to tie for 30th. Robert Caplin (83-77=160) and Aaron Harter (90-79=169) rounded out Loyola's lineup. The final round of competition begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
