Loyola Men’s Golf Places 13th at Butler Fall Invitational

Indianapolis (September 21, 2004) – The Loyola University Chicago men’s golf team captured 13th place at the Butler Fall Invitational which concluded this afternoon at the Eagle Creek Golf Course. The Ramblers turned in a score of 921, to narrowly edge Quincy (922). Oakland rolled to the title with an 870.
Sophomore Frank Linquist turned in another strong outing for the Ramblers, tying for 12th overall with a 219. Linquist opened play Monday by firing a one-under-par and season-low 70 before carding a 76 and two-over 73 in the final round today. Keith Nelson (76-76-73 = 225) tied for 30th and recording a season-low 73 in today’s round. Rounding out the Loyola lineup was Dan Mattingly (83-79-76 = 238), Matt Krummel (83-80-77 = 240) and Mike Wieland (86-83-76 = 245). Freshman Aaron Harter, making his first collegiate appearance, matched Wieland with a 245 (75-82-88).
Loyola will compete in the Blue Demon Invitational, Sept. 27-28 in West Chicago.
