Armando Favela Named All-Horizon League

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago sophomore Armando Favela (Tijuana, Mexico/St. Augustine) was named All-Horizon League it was announced Tuesday following the completion of the League Championships at Shaker Run Golf Course in Lebanon, Ohio.

The left-handed Favela tied for ninth place at the League Championships and posted the lowest single-season scoring average (73.6) in school history this year in addition to recording five top-ten finishes. He registered six under-par rounds during the year and shot a career-best 68 in round two at the Murray State Invitational on Oct. 2.

Detroit swept the League awards as Mark Sommerfeld was named Player of the Year, David Byrne was hailed as Newcomer of the Year and Mark Engel was tabbed Coach of the Year. Favela was joined on the All-League team by Jake Scott (Cleveland State), Byrne, Sommerfeld, Brandon Knutson (Wright State) and Ryan Stocke (Youngstown State).

Loyola will return four of its top five golfers from this year's squad.
