CHICAGO (May 2, 2005) – Loyola University Chicago head men’s golf coach Adam Kwiatkoski has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent today. Kwiatkoski, who is completing his first year as the men’s coach, also announced that the Ramblers are adding a pair of walk-ons to the 2005-06 roster. Signing letters of intent were Sean Bidzinski (Belvidere, Ill./Boylan Catholic), Kevin Emmerich (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) and Armando Favela (Chula Vista, Calif./St. Augustine).
Bidzinski was a high school teammate of current Rambler Frank Linquist at Boylan Catholic, helping lead their squad to the 2002 state championship. The low medalist at the 2004 IHSA Regional, Bidzinski also earned a top 10 finish at the IHSA State Championship in 2004. He also won the Illinois State Junior Qualifier with a two-under-par 70 at Ironwood Golf Course.
An individual qualifier for the 2004 IHSA State Championship, Emmerich finished in the top 10 at the meet. A low medalist in 15 of 22 high school matches over the last two seasons, Emmerich also captured multiple Illinois Junior Golf Association events in 2004.
Playing at the No. 1 spot in the lineup as a junior, Favela earned team MVP honors by posting a 36.2 nine-hole average. A two-time San Diego section C.I.F. champion, Favela also won a pair of tournaments in the San Diego Junior Golf Association with a one-under 71 at Cottonwood Golf Course and an astonishing six-under 66 at Rancho Bernardo Country Club. He placed second in Mexico at the National Championships in 2004 with a 54-hole score of 220.
Kwiatkoski also announced that Dave Fudacz (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) and Sean Lannon (Bulverde, Texas/Smithsonian Valley) are joining the Loyola roster next fall as walk-ons. Fudacz , who participated in the 2004 IHSA State Championship, was the Chicago Catholic League Individual Champion last season.
Lannon is a four-year letterman and two-time team captain at Smithsonian Valley. He earned a top 10 finish with a 75.0 average at the South Texas PGA Junior Tour.
“I am very excited to bring in five quality players for next season that all will have the opportunity to contribute right away,” Kwiatkoski said. “Three of the recruits are from the Chicagoland area which is important in building a strong awareness in the local community.”
