Loyola Men’s Golf Places Tenth at Dayton Invitational

4/26/2005

Keith Nelson shot a two-over 74 in the final round at the Dayton Invitational

DAYTON (April 26, 2005) – The Loyola University Chicago men’s golf team tuned up for next week’s Horizon League Championships by placing 10th at the Dayton Invitational which concluded today at the Golf Course at Yankee Trace. Led by Aaron Harter’s 54-hole total of 238 (77-82-79), the Ramblers finished with a team score of 975, while UW-Green Bay captured the crown with an 899.

Weather conditions were hardly ideal for the tournament as the opening day was delayed for two hours due to frost on the course and today’s final round was played in breezy and rainy conditions. Battling the elements, Harter placed tied for 24th overall, firing a five-over 77 in the opening round. Senior Keith Nelson tied for 29th with a 240 (78-88-74), saving his best for last with a two-over 74 this afternoon.

Rounding out the Ramblers’ lineup was Michael Wieland (78-89-82) with a 249 and Dan Mattingly (83-87-83) with a 253.
