Bidzinski Named U.S. Army Horizon League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week

April 24, 2007

CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago sophomore Sean Bidzinski has been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week it was announced this morning by the League office. This marks the ninth time a Rambler has earned Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors this season.

Last week, Bidzinski helped Loyola to a second-place team showing at the Wiscon Corporation Invitational at Pine Meadow Golf Course in Mundelein, Ill. The left-hander posted a 54-hole score of 231, displaying remarkable consistency by shooting a 77 in each round to finish tied for 24th place individually.

In seven meets this season, Bidzinski owns a 77.2 average. The biology major earned a spot on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in the fall.

To be eligible for Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better, have completed at least one year at the institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the week's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty representatives.
