Loyola Fights Through Elements At Beu/Mussato Invitational

April 6, 2007

MACOMB, Ill. - Battling windy and snowy conditions, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team posted an opening-round score of 343 at the Beu/Mussato Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University today. Playing without most of their regulars in the lineup, the Ramblers gutted out the adverse conditions to tie for 15th place after 18 holes of competition.

Mike Wieland and Robert Caplin each fired an 84 this afternoon to lead Loyola's contingent of golfers, while Frank Linquist carded an 87, Aaron Harter an 88, and Kevin Emmerich a 90.

Host Western Illinois leads the way with a 312 after one round and is followed closely by North Dakota State with a 314.

The Ramblers are scheduled to play the final 18 holes tomorrow, weather permitting.
