JACKSON, Tenn. - Sophomore Armando Favela shot a one-under-par 71 in the opening round of play at the Grover Page Classic today to help Loyola University Chicago to a tie for eighth place after 18 holes of competition. The Ramblers turned in a team score of 305 to tie with Central Arkansas and Southern Illinois for eighth place while North Alabama shot even par (288) to claim the lead after one round of action. The second round was postponed due to darkness and will be resumed tomorrow morning.

Favela picked up where he left off at the end of the fall season, shooting a one-under-par and notching 13 pars in his first action since October. Freshmen Thomas Greene and Peter Tomkie brought home scores of 77 today and were followed by Sean Bidzinski (80) and Frank Linquist (83).

The completion of round two and the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament are scheduled for Tuesday.
