Ramblers Tie For Second Place As IPFW Classic Final Round Gets Rained Out

Oct. 17, 2006

AUBURN, Ind. - Heavy rain overnight created unplayable conditions as Loyola University Chicago was rained out of the final round of action scheduled for today at the IPFW Fall Classic at Deer Track Golf Course. The Ramblers, who claimed the title at this tournament a year ago, wound up tied for second place in the eight-team field this year after posting a score of 570. Detroit claimed the title with a 560.

Freshman Thomas Greene tied for fourth place with a 140 (67-73), while Armando Favela (69-72=141) joined him in the top ten as the sophomore tied for sixth. Greene's 67 was his lowest mark of the fall and with a 69 in round one, Favela broke 70 for the second time this season. Frank Linquist tied for 15th (73-71=144) and recorded a season-low 71 in round two yesterday. Peter Tomkie, who also shot a season-low 71 in round two Monday, finished tied for 27th with a 147 (76-71) and Sean Bidzinski placed 39th with a 150 (74-76).
