Loyola Captures Title At Elmhurst Invitational

April 30, 2007

OAK BROOK, Ill. - While part of the team competed at the Horizon League Championships this afternoon, the remainder of Loyola University Chicago's roster was busy capturing first place at the Elmhurst Invitational held at Oak Brook Golf Club. The Ramblers notched a team total of 302, to hold off host Elmhurst (307) and Lewis (310) in the nine-team field.

Senior Michael Wieland shot a season-best and one-over-par 73 to finish tied for second place overall, just one shot behind Martin Bozak of St. Francis, who earned medalist honors. Wieland wasn't the only Rambler to shine today as both Aaron Harter and Sean Lannon posted identical scores of 75, which also happened to be their best scores of the season, to tie for seventh place. John Caponigro carded a 79 to tie for 22nd, while Kevin Emmerich shot an 84, which was good enough to tie for 24th individually.

Final Team Results
1. Loyola - 302
2. Elmhurst - 307
3. Lewis - 310
4. Aurora - 311
5. Wheaton - 314
6. St. Francis - 319
