  Lance Randall

Lance Randall

Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach

Alma Mater:
Beloit (1994)

Lance Randall has experienced it all in a coaching career that has included stints at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. After leading Oshkosh West High School to back-to-back Wisconsin state titles, Randall returns to the collegiate ranks as an assistant on Jim Whitesell's staff.

"Lance is an excellent addition to our staff and has experience coaching at every level in the game from high school to college to the professional ranks," Whitesell said. "Since he is already familiar with some of the players currently in our program, and with our staff, he should be able to fit right in. At every one of his coaching stops, Lance has been successful and we are confident that he will help us continue to build on the success we have had at Loyola."

Randall guided Oshkosh West to consecutive state crowns in 2006 and 2007, after taking over the program prior to the 2005 campaign. In three seasons at Oshkosh West, he led his teams to a staggering 71-3 record and a pair of state titles. The 2005-06 team was led by current Loyola forward and Mr. Basketball in the state of Wisconsin, Andy Polka, and posted an unblemished 26-0 record en route to the state championship. A two-time Coach of the Year selection, Randall helped Oshkosh West break a 34-year-old Fox Valley Association record by winning 48 consecutive games.

Prior to his stint as the head coach at Oshkosh West, Randall was an assistant coach at Saint Louis University, where he helped the Billikens to a pair of National Invitation Tournament appearances and the team's best-ever finish in Conference USA. Randall also was the head coach at Webster University in St. Louis, Mo., where he helped pilot the Gorloks to their first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 1999-2000. In addition to leaving Webster as the school's all-time winningest coach, Randall was a two-time SLIAC Coach of the Year honoree.

Randall also served two seasons (2000-02) as the head coach and vice president of operations for the Pertemps Birmingham Bullets professional team in Birmingham, England. In that capacity, Randall helped the Bullets to the Final Four of the prestigious Northern European Basketball League Challenge Cup and the British Basketball League playoffs, where the team advanced to the finals for the first time in 21 seasons. During a preseason tour of the United States, Randall's team knocked off eventual NCAA Sweet Sixteen teams Southern Illinois and Mississippi State in 2002.

A 1994 graduate of Beloit College, where he was also a two-time basketball team captain, Randall also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1994-97.

Randall and his wife Pamela, reside in Chicago with their children Evelyn (4) and River (2).
