Women’s Cross Country Finishes Second at UW-Parkside

The men’s team grabbed seventh

Maurecca Lambert captured third place this weekend

Chicago, Ill. (September 19, 2004) – The Loyola women’s cross country team had a second place finish Saturday at the Midwest Collegiate held at UW-Parkside. The men’s team grabbed a seventh place finish at the meet.

For the second week in a row, sophomore Maurecca Lambert grabbed highest finish on the team, placing third with a time of 17:50. Right behind Lambert was Amanda Domich who finished in fourth place with a mark of 18:12. Anna Hintershied (18:46) and Sara Covert (18:48) finished in 13th and 14th place, while newcomer Rachel Hansen finished the race in 19:20. Rounding off the women’s team was Courtney Tumpach (19:53).

Finishing in a team-high fourth place for the men’s team was Shawn Lucas with a time of 25:25 in the 8,000m run. Close behind in seventh place was Sam Romanski (25:33) with Brent Cunningham taking 14th (25:55). Eduardo Borjon (27:04), Steve Sebelski (28:01) and Joe Mahalick (28:01) finished out the rest of the Ramblers.

The men’s and women’s teams will travel this Saturday, September 25 for the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
