Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, Colleen Donovan, led the Rambler women with a ninth-place finish
 
 
Loyola Men Place Second and Women Place Third at the Horizon League Championships

The Loyola University Chicago cross country teams turned in a pair of solid performances at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday morning. The Loyola men placed second out of nine teams with a team score of 100, while the Rambler women placed third out of 10 teams recording a team score of 60.

With four of their top finishers from last season absent, the Rambler men were led by freshman Ben Reifenberg. Reifenberg's 26:24 in the 8k race was good for a sixth place finish out of 86 competitors. Junior Ryan Kuphall (26:40) placed 12th, freshman Anthony Wile (26:59) finished 18th, junior Jimi Bleicher (27:25) captured 27th, sophomore Matt McCabe (27:44) placed 37th and freshman Scott Matzoll (28:21) finished 52nd for the Rambler men rounding out the team scoring.

The Loyola women were led by the League's Newcomer of the Year, Colleen Donovan. Donovan, a sophomore with freshman eligibility, captured ninth place with her 19:05 in the 8K race. Following behind Donovan were freshman Danielle Locascio (19:11) who placed 10th, junior Genevieve Binnie (19:13) who finished 11th, junior Pam Staton who captured 15th, freshman Alison Rack, who garnered 17th place (19:40), junior Gada Qafisheh (19:54) who placed 22nd and senior Rachel Hansen (20:18) who came in 27th out of 93 competitors.

The Ramblers continue their postseason competition at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, Ill. on Saturday, November 10. The meet is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
