Loyola Cross Country Competes at NCAA Pre-Nationals

Oct. 13, 2007

In the final meet prior to the Horizon League Championships, the Loyola cross country women finished 36th, while there were no team scores on the men's side at the NCAA Pre-National Meet at Terre Haute, Ind. The Ramblers had a number of improvements to their times as well as a couple of season-best marks recorded on Saturday afternoon.

The Loyola women were led by junior Pam Staton and sophomore Colleen Donovan who posted times of 22:43 and 23:01, respectively, in the women's 6,000m run. Freshman Danielle Locascio (23:10) and Staton both bounced back from their runs a few weeks ago at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, ranking first and third, respectively, among the Rambler women.

On the men's side, freshman Ben Reifenberg recorded a 25:48 8,000m run, shaving off a couple of seconds from his last outing. Junior Ryan Kuphall, who is recuperating from an injury, garnered a season-best 26:09 in the 8,000m. Freshman Scott Matzoll also recorded a season-best run of 27:10.

The Ramblers are looking forward to heading to Valparaiso, Ind., on October 27 for the Horizon League Championships. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m.
