Donte Prisby Sets New School Record at Notre Dame Opener

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Loyola University Chicago sophomore sprinter Donte Prisby set a new school record to lead the Ramblers at the Notre Dame Opener on Saturday in Notre Dame, Ind.

Prisby ran the 500m dash in a swift 1:05.10 to place second in the race out of nine competitors. The Orland Hills, Ill., native etched himself into the Loyola record books with his impressive run. Coming in behind Prisby in the 500m were sophomore Tom Andreoni (1:06.74) who placed fourth, freshman Ramunas Stanciauskas (1:07.21) who came in fifth, sophomore Ricky Headrick (1:07.56) who finished sixth and sophomore Sam McClain (1:08.40) who garnered an eighth-place finish.

Jena Brown led the Loyola women in the mile run finishing ninth overall with a personal-best time of 5:20.23 out of 22 runners. The sophomore from Lake Ann, Mich., finished just ahead junior Genevieve Binnie (5:23.32) who finished 12th, junior Pam Staton (5:27.53) who placed 14th, junior Gada Qafisheh (5.28.97) who came in 15th and freshman Alison Rack (5:38.11) who garnered an 18th-place finish.

Binnie went on to place 12th in the 3k run boasting a personal-best of 10:44.15. The Homewood, Ill., native bettered her previous personal-best by 17 seconds to finish 12th out of 19 competitors. Qafisheh came in just behind Binnie with a time of 11:12.33 to place 16th in the competition.

The Ramblers return to action when they host the annual Battle of the Boards competition in Alumni Gym on Sunday, January 27 at 2:30 p.m.
